Iron Infusions
If you and your doctor decide an iron infusion is the best option for you, they will give you a script for the iron infusion (Ferinject) with a consent form for you to read and complete and ask you to make an appointment at reception.
You will need to book a 45 minute appointment with the nurse and a 15 minute appointment with your doctor.
Your doctor should have already discussed the cost with you but if not, it will normally be the cost of a standard consult (see ‘Fees’ for more information) and then a charge for materials used for the procedure ($75 – as of January 2024) you will be able to claim a rebate from Medicare for the consult.
On the day of your appointment, you will need to fill the Ferinject script at the chemist and bring it with you and make sure you have signed and return the consent form given to you.
