Why do I need a PIN for emails?
Your privacy is our number one priority.
As standard email is not secure, everything that we can send through our software will be secured with a four digit PIN.
Please phone Reception if you need assistance.
Are you taking new patients?
Yes, new patients are welcome. Please contact our reception on 9298 8555 to book your appointment.
Unfortunately, Dr Siobhain Brennan, Dr Mark Daykin, Dr Juliette Buchanan, Dr Frank Kotai and Dr Alina Harriss are not taking new patients.
What are the costs to see a doctor?
Glen Forrest Medical Centre is a private practice and private fees will apply to consultations.
Procedures will be privately billed. Your doctor will provide an estimate of costs and out of pocket expenses at the time of your consultation. Procedures cannot be billed until the Histology Report is received from Pathology. This usually takes a couple of weeks.
Dressings provided in our treatment room will also attract a private materials charge, if you are normally Bulk Billed you will also need to pay the Consultation fee (which may be equivalent to the Medicare rebate) We will be able to claim the rebate back for you at the time of payment if you have an EFTPOS card or your bank details registered with Medicare.
Please speak to Reception or see Fees for more information.
Do you bulk bill?
No, we do not bulk bill as we are a private practice. Pensioners and children over 12 are offered a reduced rate. We do bulk bill children 12 years and under.
Please note: Saturday clinics are privately billed for everyone, including children over 2 years old and concession card holders.
We offer Easyclaim so that you can claim your Medicare rebate straight away. For instant payment of your rebate you can use a cheque or savings card or if Medicare has your bank details we can send it online.
Pension card holders do
Do you offer telephone consults?
Yes, Telephone consults are available with our Doctors.
To be eligible for a Medicare rebate, the patient needs to have attended the surgery for a face to face appointment in the last 12 months (this does not apply if you are covid positive), the patient needs to be in attendance eg. a child will need to be with you when speaking to the Doctor.
Please note: These are requirements of Medicare and it is considered fraud if Doctors claim when patients are not eligible.
If you do not fit in to those categories then you can still have a telephone appointment but you will need to pay the full fee and not be able to claim a Medicare rebate.
Please speak to reception if you have any questions.
Do you offer appointments for people that work?
Yes, Dr Toni Law offers appointments on Tuesday and Thursday between 7.00-8.00am and we are also open on Saturday mornings.
Because the early morning appointments are ‘out of hours’ they are charged at a slightly higher rate but you will get a higher Medicare rebate.
To book the early morning appointments online, make sure to select ‘Standard After Hours Appointment’
To book the Saturday morning appointments online, make sure to select ‘Standard Weekend Appointment’
Please speak to reception if you have any questions.
How do I get results of recent tests?
We request that you make an appointment for follow up with your doctor for X-Ray, CT, MRI, mammograms and ultrasounds results.
For all other results, please phone our nurses, if they are busy our receptionist will take a message.
You can access your test results through your ‘My Health Record’.
They will normally be available after 7 days.
If your doctor would like you to repeat a test in the future, our surgery is now sending secure mobile notifications to tell you when the tests are due or to visit the clinic. For more information please follow the link: SMS Reminders

Are fees likely to change?
With increasing costs of maintaining a Medical Practice and with the freezing of rebates by the Federal Government, it is highly likely that our fees will increase, in the form of a higher co-payment.
What is a GP Registrar?
A GP Registrar is a qualified doctor who is training to become a GP through a period of working and training in a practice.
They will usually have spent at least two years working in a hospital before you see them in a practice and are closely supervised by a senior GP or trainer.
A good way to think about it is that they are a qualified doctor and are specialising in being a general practitioner!
I need to see a Doctor and Glen Forrest Medical Centre is not available, what do I do?
GP urgent care services are provided for people to receive the most appropriate care without the need to attend an emergency department.
GP urgent care is treating people with urgent (required on the day), but non-life threatening injury and illness that is typically treated within the usual scope of general practice.
They can be a vital part of your healthcare, available when unable to see a GP at your regular surgery or out of office hours.
What types of minor injuries and illness are treated at a GP urgent care clinic?
Musculoskeletal injuries such as minor fractures, sports injuries and minor neck and back pain
Skin and soft tissue infections and symptoms, such as cuts and lacerations
Mild burns and rashes, bites and insect stings
Gastrointestinal illnesses
Illnesses of the eye, ear, nose and throat
Other potentially urgent medical symptoms such as urinary tract infections and wound infections and abdominal pain.
GP urgent care clinics will have access to pathology and radiology services. They will also include fully equipped treatment rooms to apply sutures, plastering and conduct minor procedures.
Not all urgencies are emergencies.
When Glen Forrest Medical Centre is not available for your needs, the closest GP urgent care provider is in Midland.
