Dr Siobhain Brennan started working at the Glen Forrest Medical Centre in January 2017.
Siobhain is a long time hills resident, having raised her family in this area over the last 18 years. She loves the community spirit of the hills.
Training
Siobhain completed her medical training at UWA in 2012. She came to medicine after gaining a PhD and a successful career at PMH and the Telethon institute for kids as a senior post doctoral scientist in respiratory medicine research with a specialty interest in cystic fibrosis. She chose to follow the medical path as she was passionate about patient care and advocacy.
Although enjoying all aspects of family medicine, since graduating from UWA, Siobhain has continued with her special interest in paediatrics. This has included training at PMH, with some speciality immunology and allergy training, and completing her Diploma of child health in 2014, and ongoing casual employment at PMH in the Emergency Department. In addition to this Siobhain has an interest in women’s health and completed the Sexual health certificate in 2015, and enjoys working with women of all ages.
Siobhain also enjoys interventional procedures such as removing skin lesions and foreign bodies.
In 2017 Siobhain will extend her skill base to palliative care when she will also work part time in the community delivered palliative care programs with Silver Chain.
Outside interests
Siobhain likes spending time with her family and friends, yoga and swimming, and is hoping to learn to play the Bodhran (an irish drum) in 2017.
